Joshua McGowan, age 21, of Cherokee and formerly of Aurelia, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 3, 2006.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aurelia, with Reverend Larry Lemke officiating.  The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2006 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00. 

Joshua Shawn McGowan was born May 19, 1984 to Shawn and Megan (Broders) McGowan in Harrison, Arkansas. He moved with his family to Aurelia, Iowa, where he received his education in the Aurelia schools.

Josh participated in many activities during his school days, but he truly loved baseball and the outdoors. He liked to spend as much time with a fishing pole in his hands as possible. He enjoyed playing pool and Texas Hold’em.

Josh loved his family and reveled in the friendships he made. His time here was too short and he will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Shawn and Megan McGowan of Aurelia; sister Caiti McGowan of West Des Moines, Iowa; maternal grandparents Richard and Barb Broders of Schaller, Iowa; paternal grandmother Mary Ann McGowan of Everton, Arkansas; Nathan Kaiser; many extended family members and a host of friends.

Josh was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Dennis McGowan; and two uncles, Jon Broders and Tim Broders.
