George E. Tippy

George E. Tippy, age 77, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Saturday, April 22, 2006 at the Newell Good Samaritan Center following a brief illness.

Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, with Reverend Jamie Cutler officiating. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is assisting the family with the arrangements. There will be no visitation.

George Edward Tippy was born January 22, 1929 in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Roy Tippy and Marie (Fuhrman) Tippy. He attended Immaculate Conception School in Cherokee and graduated from high school in 1947. George served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict years. He was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado.

On January 29, 1955, George married Betty K. Holdren in Sutherland, Iowa. The couple moved to Storm Lake that same year. They were blessed with three children: a son, Ellis, and two daughters, Deborah and Marcia.

George worked as a meat cutter for Kingans, then Hy-Grade for 34 years until it closed. He then worked for Wilson Foods for nine years until his retirement. A loving husband and devoted father and grandfather, George will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters: Deborah K Siepka and husband Lucian of Cherokee, and Marcia Tippy of Storm Lake; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers: Joseph Tippy and his wife Patricia of Saukville, Wisconsin and Mike Tippy of Cherokee; four sisters: Theresa Sefcik and husband Al of Pocahontas, Iowa; Agnes Day and Ruth Tippy, both of Cherokee; and Pat Miller of Cleghorn, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; one sister, Margaret Mogenson; and his son, Ellis Tippy.

To honor George’s memory, his family requests that gifts be made to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
