Fidella Hobermann
Funeral Services for Mrs. Hobermann are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2006 at Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, with Reverend Steven Schulz officiating. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2006 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Fidella Elsie Barr, daughter of Russell and Elsie Barr, Sr., was born August 4, 1921, in Storm Lake. She lived in northwest Iowa with her parents, four sisters and two brothers. She also lived with the Lee and Bessye Edwards family in Storm Lake until her graduation from high school, and then she worked in Storm Lake. “Della” and Walter Hobermann were married on December 28, 1941 at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. They lived in Michigan during the war and returned to Newell, Iowa to farm. They were members of Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake until they retired and moved to Storm Lake in 1983. At that time they became members of Grace Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Della was active in church and school activities at Zion, enjoyed sewing, needlework, and also quilting with the Grace group. She and Walter enjoyed traveling together, taking cruises and visiting family around the country. Della was known for her quiet dignity, and her love for her husband and her daughters, Karaan and Katha. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Karaan (Bill) Vogel of Norwalk, Iowa; granddaughter Julie (Clint) Stotts, and children Kaley and Rachel, of Tyler, Texas; grandson David (Tina) Vogel and children Chris and Heather, of Des Moines, Iowa; grandson Steven (Shana) Vogel and their children Sajen, Devin and Alexis, of Des Moines; brother Everett Barr of Los Lunas, New Mexico; sister Leona (Don) Bettin of Odebolt, Iowa; sister Marvel (Milton) Rosdail of Storm Lake; sister Lois Farmer of Dover, Arkansas; 14 nieces, 11 nephews, and many other cherished relatives and friends. Fidella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter; her daughter, Katha; her sister, Ruth Layman; and her brother, Russell Barr, Jr. |
