Eunice Wise, age 84, formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away peacefully at Cheney Golden Age Home in Cheney, Kansas on August 7, 2006.

Memorial services for Mrs. Wise are scheduled for Monday, September 11, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Storm Lake, with Reverend Jack Barber officiating. Inurnment will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. There will be no visitation.

Eunice Katherine Illum was born January 11, 1922 in Alta, Iowa. She was the daughter of Hans and Mary Illum. She attended school at Highview and Truesdale before graduating from Storm Lake High School in 1940. Eunice married Dean Wise on June 14, 1942. To this union three children were born: Roger Dean (1943), Roberta Lavonne (1945) and Raymond Keith (1947). Dean and Eunice were married for 48 years until Dean’s death on August 9, 1990.

All of Eunice’s life was spent in Buena Vista County, except for 1976 – 1986, when the Wise’s farmed near Cowgill, Missouri. They retired and moved to Storm Lake in 1986. In 2001, Eunice moved to Wichita, Kansas to be near her daughter and family. After suffering two strokes in August 2005, Eunice lived in a nursing home.

Those left to cherish Eunice’s memory are her son, Roger of Sheridan, Oregon; her daughter, Roberta (Rollie) Monson of Wichita, Kansas; her son, Raymond of Lincoln, Missouri; grandchildren: Roxanne Spratte, Rodney (Donna) Wise of Guthrie Center, Iowa; Rolanda (David) Maness of El Dorado, Kansas, Rob (Kelli) Monson of Cheney, Kansas, Reg (Shannon) Monson of Cheney, Kansas, Temple Wise and Tony Wise; 16 great-grandchildren: Shelby Spratte, Chance and Ethan Wise, Amanda, Jay, Josh, Jon Jared and Justin Maness, Riley Gilley, Tucker Monson, Emily Monson, Brandon, Brian, Christopher and Kimberly Wise; sister Lavon Swink; extended family and friends.

Eunice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean Wise; brothers Ernest, Wesley, Vernley and Cardia; and her sister, Naomi Nelson.
