Douglas T. Kane
Funeral Service for Mr. Kane will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 27, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Early, with Pastor Carl Benge officiating. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Friends may call from 5-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2006 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present. Douglas Terrance Kane was born on February 24, 1933 in Wisner, Nebraska to Leonard and Blanche (Johnson) Kane. He was baptized into the Catholic faith in 1933 in Pilger, Nebraska. Doug received his education in the Pilger schools and graduated from Pilger High School with the Class of 1951. On March 2, 1952, Doug was united in marriage to Anita Virginia Witte in Pender, Nebraska. They were blessed with five children: Terry, Susan, Kristi, Marty and Mick. Doug was employed in agricultural sales until his retirement in 1993. He liked taking long rides in the car, and traveling to see new places. Camping was always a enjoyable activity for him. He took great pleasure in working in his yard and gardening, then canning the bounty he grew. And he loved to eat! His family was important to him and he treasured the time he spent with his children and grandchildren. He will be missed daily by all who knew and loved him. Left to cherish his memory are his son Terry Kane; daughter Susan (Mrylon) Kizer of Storm Lake, Iowa; daughter Kristi (Bill) Wollesen of Lake View, Iowa; son Marty (Lisa) Kane of Okinawa, Japan; and son Mick (Terri) Kane of Hinsdale, Illinois; grandchildren: Karla Kelly, Preston and Scott Bettin of Storm Lake; John, Kara and Jill Wollesen of Lake View; Heather, Jesse and Jaime Kane of Okinawa; and Alex and Austin Kane of Hinsdale: great-grandchild Jailen Kelly Johnson; sister Julie Vaughn of Columbia, Missouri, sister-in-law Jeanie Kane of Kingman, Arizona; special friend Ruby Rose Piercy of Storm Lake; extended family and many friends. Preceding Doug in death were his parents and two brothers, Greg and Tom. |
