Dorothy J. Griffin Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2006 at 2:30 pm at the Schaller Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Richard King officiating. Burial will be in the Schaller Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Schaller is in charge of the arrangements. There will be visitation prior to the funeral service at the church from 1-:2:00 pm. Dorothy Jean Currie was born on September 13, 1913 in rural Sac County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Nellie (Smith) Currie. She graduated from Sac City High School. On December 25, 1938, Dorothy was united in marriage to Charles Griffin in Sac City, Iowa. To this union two daughters were born: Nancy and Judy. Dorothy was an active member of the Schaller Presbyterian Church and served in many capacities including Elder, Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Pianist and Children’s Choir Director. She was a 50 year member of Eastern Star as well as being a 4-H leader. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and especially cooking and baking for them. Dorothy found much enjoyment playing the piano and being an accompanist. Dorothy and Chuck enjoyed camping together and visiting family. She loved to communicate with friends and relatives and spent much time writing notes and cards in her beautiful handwriting. She was a kind friend and supporter to all who knew her and will be dearly missed. Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters: Nancy (David) Boaz, Rapids City, Illinois, and Judy (Larry) Erion; Marshalltown, Iowa; two sisters-in-law: Elsie Currie and Barbara Currie; seven grandchildren: Mark Boaz, Heather DeGroot, Jason Erion, Angela Bergmann, Allison Brown, Holly Boaz and Matthew Erion; and nine great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles, and brothers: Wallace, Donald, and Robert. |
