Agnes Scott

Agnes Scott, age 73, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Monday, November 13, 2006 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Funeral Mass for Mrs. Scott will be said at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2006 at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, with Reverend Bruce Lawler as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, November 17, 2006 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00. A Legion of Mary Rosary will be recited at 3:30 and a 7:00 vigil service will be held, also at the funeral home that same day.

In lieu of flowers a memorials may be designated to the Lake Preservation Association.

Agnes Helen Brander was born August 9, 1933 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Edward Warner Brander and Rose Susan (Minette) Brander. She was baptized into the Catholic faith as an infant and received her education at St. Mary’s School in Storm Lake.

On September 2, 1957, Agnes was united in marriage to Gerald Scott at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple was blessed with four children: Kelly, Julie, Daniel and Karen.

Agnes was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, St. Mary’s Guild, participated and believed in the power of the Prayer Chain. She also cleaned the church.

Agnes enjoyed many pastimes; among them were water skiing, working crossword puzzles, dancing, playing cards and writing poetry. She loved her family and friends and treasured the time she spent with them.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Gerald Scott of Storm Lake; daughter Kelly DenHartog of Port Byron, Illinois; daughter Julie (Don) Erps of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; son Daniel (Teri) Scott of Beresford, South Dakota; daughter Karen Scott (Chris Todden) of Storm Lake; grandchildren: Jennifer Harding, Michael Erps, Derek Harjes, Heather Erps, Nate Harjes, Alex DenHartog, Ben Simonds and Sam Simonds; sisters Lorraine Peterson and Rose Mills, both of Storm Lake and Mary Hartman of Le Mars, Iowa; sister-in-law Esther Brander of Spencer, Iowa; extended family and many friends.

Agnes was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Brander; brothers Ward Brander, Lloyd Brander, Allen Brander and Edward Brander; and her sister, Dorothy Brander.
