Alvin Lee Giese, 91, a resident of the Toulon Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Toulon, Illinois, formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa, died at 3:05 am Tuesday, October 24, 2006, at the Health Care Center.

Visitation in Toulon will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wednesday, October 25, 2006, at DeBolt-Kidd Funeral Home.  Visitation in Storm Lake will be held  from 10:00 - 11:00 am on Friday, October 27th, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 am at the Storm Lake City Cemetery.

Born April 11, 1915, in Powell, WY, the son of Levi & Chloey Rounds Giese, Alvin married Mary Ellen Maxey on June 6, 1939, in Minneapolis, MN.  She survives, along with two sons, Brian (and Sylvia) Giese of Kewanee, IL, and Gary (and Jackie) Giese of Maryville, TN; six grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Glenn Giese of Woodstock, IL.  He was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

He served as a Church of Christ minister for many years, serving churches in Minnesota, Nebraska, & Iowa, last serving at Storm Lake Church of Christ, Storm Lake, Iowa before retiring in 1981.  Prior to serving in the ministry, he was a teacher and a farmer.

Alvin was a member of the Storm Lake Rotary Club, trustee for Nebraska Christian College, Omaha, Nebraska, was a director on the Christian Evangelistic Mission Board of Directors, and was a member of Storm Lake Church of Christ.
