LaVaughn R. Currie
Funeral Services will be Monday, April 25, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Galva, with Reverend Paul Egger officiating. Burial will be in the Schaller Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller is in charge of the arrangements. Friends may call on Sunday, April 24, 2005 from 3-7:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller, where family present from 5-7:00 p.m. LaVaughn Ruth (Specketer) Currie, daughter of Clarence and Clara (Otto) Specketer was born September 22, 1925 in Sac County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church, Galva, Iowa. She graduated in 1943 from the Galva High School. After graduation, she worked at an Insurance Office and for the Rationing Board. On June 1, 1946, she married Roger Currie at St. John Lutheran Church. To this union, three children were born: Scott, Andrea and Mark. They farmed until 1985, when they moved to Schaller. LaVaughn worked in the office of a seed corn plant and was involved in her church as a Sunday School teacher and as an officer in Ladies Aid. She enjoyed making quilts for World Relief and also served on the Library Board in Schaller. In 2001, LaVaughn moved to Wel-Life Assistant Living in Alta, Iowa then moved to Otsego Place in Storm Lake in January of 2004. She is survived by a son Scott, daughter Andrea and her husband Richard Hoskins, and son Mark and wife Mary; one sister Ardis and husband Burdette Grieme; eight grandchildren: Lindy and Andrew Currie-Suntken, Tanner and Lucas Hoskins, Jarid, Kayla, Mike and Nick Currie, and numerous friends and relatives. LaVaughn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roger, brothers: Virgil and Garland and two sisters: Leta and June. |
