Jesse D. Box
Funeral Service will be Thursday, August 18, 2005 at 2:00p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller. Burial will be in the Schaller Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Friends may call anytime after 4:00 on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 where family will greet friends from 6-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller. Jesse Box was born in rural Schaller, Iowa on October 2, 1922, the son of John D. and Christine (Hansen) Box. He attended Cook Township School. On April 6, 1941, Jesse was baptized and seven days later on April 13, 1941 confirmed by W. H. Janke into the Lutheran Faith. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller. He was also an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Galva, holding the following positions: Sunday School superintendent, President of the Fellowship club, Christian Growth Chairman, and was a lifetime member of the N.F.O. On June 28, 1945, Jesse married Edna Meyer at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller. This union was blessed with four children: Beverly, Donna, Dale and Dean. Jesse loved his family and the land. He farmed in the Schaller area until his retirement in December of 1985. Jesse liked doing things for others, and making projects for his children. He loved music, dancing and fishing. He was usually accompanied by his wife in whatever he did. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 60 years, Edna of Schaller; children: Beverly Scholten and her husband William of Hospers, Iowa, Donna Waller and her husband Dennis of Winterset, Iowa, Dale Box and his wife Sheri of Bellevue, Nebraska, and Dean Box and his wife Donna of Galva, Iowa; one sister Marie Baker of Kansas City, Kansas; eight grandchildren: Misheal Little, Michael Waller, Marisa Waller, Julie Scholten, Traci Box, Tammi Box, Ryan Box and Jeremy Box; two great grandchildren: Asher Little and Tyler Link; and other relatives and a host of friends. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Robert and Earl.
