Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 2, 2005 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, with Reverend Connie Spitzack officiating. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. Friends may call at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake on Sunday, May 1, 2005 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., where the family will be present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Greg was born May 27, 1958 in Storm Lake, Iowa to Roger and Delores (Pyle) Sievers. He was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church, baptized in 1958 at St. John Lutheran Church in Storm Lake and confirmed in 1972 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. He was currently a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Greg attended grade school in Rembrandt, Webb and Spencer, Iowa before graduating in 1976 from Albert City-Truesdale High School. During high school Greg was active in FFA and earned a number of blue ribbons for his projects. Following his high school graduation, he continued his education with classes at Iowa Lakes Community College. He was employed as a truck driver for Sara Lee Corporation. On August 20, 1977, Greg was married to Jeanne Brechler at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. Two daughters, Trudy and Katie, blessed their marriage. He and Jeanne later divorced. Greg was united in marriage to Dorrie Stearns on August 6, 2004 at West Lake Okoboji, Iowa. Greg worked for Sara Lee driving truck for 16 years. During that time, he maintained an accident free record. Greg had many interests in life and lived each day to its fullest. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to spend time traveling, camping and boating. He enjoyed watching sports contests; his favorites were the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Twins. He was an avid NASCAR and Jeff Gordon fan. Above all, Greg loved his wife, his daughters and his family and treasured the time he spent with them. He will be missed every day. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorrie Sievers of Spencer; his daughters: Trudy Sievers of Phoenix, Arizona and Katie Sievers of Marion, Iowa; his parents, Roger and Delores Sievers of Storm Lake; his sisters: Rhonda Sievers of Plattsmouth, Nebraska and Denise (Andy) Ishikawa of Honolulu, Hawaii; his niece, Amanda Ishikawa of Honolulu; as well as many other relatives and a host of friends. Greg was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Fred and Leona Sievers; his maternal grandparents, Wayne and Louise Pyle; and his aunt, Jeanette Terrill. |
