Darrell D. Porsch

Darrell D. Porsch, age 70, of Storm Lake, Iowa died Wednesday, April 13, 2005 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, April 16, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. at the Church of St. Mary in Storm Lake, with Father Bruce Lawler officiating. Burial will be St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake anytime after 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2005, where a Legion of Mary Rosary will be recited at 3:00 pm and a parish vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Darrell was born on December 7, 1934 in Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Lloyd and Clara (Hull) Porsch. He attended Hawthorne Elementary School in Sioux City and graduated from Leeds High School in 1953.

On May 29, 1954, Darrell was united in marriage to Clara Marie Zweifel in Sioux City. They were blessed with three children: Mike, Cathy and Mark. Darrell was employed as a salesman for McKesson Drug Company for 40 years before his retirement in 1994. After he retired from McKesson, he was employed by Ressler Drug in Storm Lake until his death. Darrell was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Darrell treasured his family and the time he spent with them. He enjoyed sports of any kind, but especially those in which his grandchildren were participants.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of nearly 51 years, Clara Marie of Storm Lake; his children: Mike and wife Lori Porsch of Storm Lake, Cathy and husband Mark Fordyce of Aurelia, Iowa, and Mark Porsch of Storm Lake; grandchildren: Alyssa, Nathan and Jacob Porsch, Joshua Fordyce and fiancé Nikki Harder, Bradley Fordyce and fiancé Molly Kunkel, and Tara Fordyce; Darrel’s mother, Clara Porsch of Sioux City; brother Tom and wife Bonnie Porsch of Sioux City; mother-in-law Margaret Zweifel of Storm Lake; nephew Randy Porsch and wife Lisa of Sioux City; as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.

Darrell was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Porsch; father-in-law, Jacob Zweifel; and nephew Bradley Porsch.

A memorial fund has been established by the family.
