He was baptized at home and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller. After receiving his 8th grade diploma from Cook Township Country School, Charles began farming with his dad, and continued to farm his entire life. He was truly a good steward of the land. Charles loved playing dart ball and cards, fishing with his family and getting together with family for dinners. Charles and Wanda enjoyed being Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for the Schaller Chamber at Christmas time. Charles and Wanda also enjoyed dancing and traveling. But Charles’ happiest times and the dearest memories stemmed from his love for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
