Thomas H. Fraser

Thomas H. Fraser, age 82, of Green Bay, Wisconsin and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa died from natural causes on Thursday, July 22, 2004 in Green Bay.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 26, 2004 at 11:00 am at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Pastor Jamie Cutler will officiate with burial in the Storm Lake Cemetery following the services. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call before service time from 10:00-11:00 am at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends.

Thomas Hugh Fraser was born May 22, 1922 to James Hugh and Inez (Bakke) Fraser in Greenville, Iowa. Tom was born at his grandmother’s home in Greenville. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1939. Before the war, he owned and operated an oil station in Greenville. He entered the U.S. Army in January 1943 and served his entire overseas tour in the Pacific theater. He returned home in January 1946.

His entire adult life thereafter was working in both housing and heavy construction. He retired in 1984.

On May 10, 1947, he married Phyllis (King) in Jackson, Minnesota. Together they resided in Estherville, Iowa, had four children and lived in Estherville until 1967 before moving to Storm Lake, Iowa. Tom and Phyllis lived there for 32 years before moving to Green Bay, Wisconsin in 1999.

Tom’s lifelong joys were being with family, normally helping build or fix items, tinkering with cars and visiting with friends at the Elk’s Club or AMVETS.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis of 57 years; four children: Matt of Appleton, Wisconsin, David (Kathleen) of Ames, Iowa, Paulette (Gary) Rossman of Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Tom (Sharon) of Fort Dodge; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one great-grandchild soon to arrive. He is also survived by his sisters: Ruth (Charles) Thurston of Spencer, Iowa, Phyllis (Bill) Bielfeldt of Ruthven, Iowa, and Mary Ann Fairchild of rural Spencer, Iowa, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents. Special thanks to the staff and nurses in the ICU unit and 3rd floor at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
