Lloyd R. Dreessen

Lloyd R. Dreessen, age 55, of Storm Lake, Iowa left us Monday, November 8, 2004 at his home in Storm Lake.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 11, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Mary in Storm Lake, with Father Bruce Lawler celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the Wall Lake Cemetery with Father John McGuirk officiating at the committal service. The arrangements are under the direction of the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake.

Friends may call at Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 between 3:00 and 8:00 p.m., where a Legion of Mary Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m., and a Parish Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. The family plans to be present between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.

Lloyd Richard Dreessen was born March 5, 1949 in Carroll, Iowa to Marvin and Katherine (Fix) Dreessen. He grew up on a farm south of Wall Lake, attending elementary and high school there. Lloyd attended Barber College in Sioux City following his high school graduation. Lloyd served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the Army Reserve in Sac City from February 1969 to February 1976, and in the Army National Guard of Storm Lake from August 1977 to August 1978.

Lloyd was baptized and confirmed in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wall Lake as a child, and currently was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake.

On February 21, 1970 Lloyd was united in marriage to Norma Rogers in Wall Lake. Their marriage was blessed with two sons: Troyd and Jayme.

Lloyd worked as a flooring installer for 34 years in Storm Lake and surrounding areas. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, auto racing, tractor pulling and playing darts, and was an avid Oakland Raider fan. Lloyd was a Canada Mount Lake Fishing Club Member and earned the name of “Laker” Lloyd. He had an incredible sense of humor, was good-natured and possessed an outgoing personality.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Norma of Storm Lake; his two sons: Troyd and wife Becky of Carroll and Jayme and wife Alicia of Oskaloosa; grandchildren: Anna Dreessen, Jenna Dreessen and Kayla Dreessen; his sister, Sharon Graham and husband Earl; plus many extended family members and a host of friends.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Katherine Dreessen.
