Elsie Hansen

Elsie M. Hansen, age 90, of Storm Lake, Iowa died on Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Memorial service was held on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, at the funeral home.

Elsie Marie Hansen, the daughter of Otto and Agnes Anderson Johnson, was born in Des Moines, IA on August 5, 1913.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.

Her childhood years were spent in Alta and the Highview area where she attended school. On August 23, 1933, she was united in marriage to Einer A. Hansen. To this union a son, Gary was born.

Elsie was a devoted wife and mother and enjoyed her children and family.

Several years were spent near Aurelia and Alta where they were engaged in farming. In 1941 they moved to Rembrandt and to Storm Lake in 1954. Following Einer’s death in 1970, Elsie moved to McCord Manor and then to Buena Vista Manor due to failing health.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a sister, Edna Johnson; a brother, Stanley Johnson; and step-father, Herman Franzene.

She is survived by her son, Gary and wife Karen of Denver, CO; three grandchildren, Kim and Eric Martins of South Orange, NJ; Kari Kline of Denver, CO; and Jeff and Becky Hansen of Denver, CO; 4 great-grandchildren, Taylor and Mitchel Martins; Kendall Kline; and Jill Hansen; four sisters, Elayne and Everett Grapenthin of Linn Grove, IA; Vivian and Jack Kaufman of Storm Lake, IA; Vera and Frank Miller of Bella Vista, AR; and JoAnn Heppler of Apple Valley, CA; a sister-in-law, Delores Johnson of Peterson, IA; beloved nieces and nephews, and many friends.
