Elin Frandsen
Elin was united in marriage to Marvin H. Frandsen on January 24, 1937, in Tyler, MN. They moved to a farm near Newell, IA, after their marriage. They were the proud parents of three daughters: Sonja, Linda, and Julie. Elin was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She worked as a cook in the Newell Schools and was a member of the Nain Lutheran Church in Newell. She was also a member of the Danish Sisterhood, Married Meeters, and Church Ladies Aid. Elin and her husband Marvin enjoyed many years together, gardening, fishing and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Survivors include her daughters: Sonja Irwin to Topeka, KS, Linda Harris of New Orleans, LA, and Julie Duffy and her husband Richard of Boone, IA; her six grandchildren: Kathy Collins, Cindy McVicker, Lisa Kintz, Randy Duffy, Beth Sword, and Katie Harris; 12 great-grandchildren; her brother Henry Jacobsen and his wife Sharon of Tyler, MN; sisters-in-law: Erna Jacobsen and Berta Jacobsen; many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends. Elin was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marvin; a sister Mildred Duffy; two brothers: Ewald and Elmer Jacobsen; and two sons-in-law: Bud Irwin and Joe Harris. Funeral services for Elin is Tuesday, May 4th, 10:30 a.m., at the Nain Lutheran Church in Newell, IA, with Rev. Paul Johnston officiating, and Carol Hansen organist. Flower arrangements will be taken care of by Linda and Jerry Stauber. Pallbearers include: Jerry McVicker, Jimmy Collins, Randy Duffy, and Nic McVicker. Interment will be at the Newell Cemetery under the direction of the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home. Visitation is 4:00 – 8:00, Monday, May 3rd at the Fratzke Jensen Funeral Home in Newell.
