Beverly Joan Post

Beverly Joan Post, age 73, of Fort Collins, Colorado and formerly of Storm Lake, Iowa died December 17, 2004 at Hospice LifeCentre at Columbine West in Fort Collins.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday, December 21, 2004 1:00 p.m. at the Storm Lake United Methodist Church, Reverend Dr. Beverlee Bell officiating and Jeff Post assisting. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call on Monday from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake, where the family will be present from 6-8:00 pm.

Joan was born January 21, 1931 in Lee Township, Buena Vista County, Iowa to Raymond and Thelma (Norby) Findley. She grew up in the Linn Grove, Iowa area and graduated from Linn Grove High School in 1950.

One March 9, 1952, Joan was united in marriage to Richard Neil Post at Shepard Air Force Base, Texas. Their marriage was blessed with four sons: David, Jeff, Gregory and Steven.

Joan and Dick made their home in Storm Lake for many years, where Dick was employed by the U.S. Post Office. Joan was a homemaker who spent her life making a warm and comfortable home for her beloved husband and family. She enjoyed visiting with people and loved having “coffee” with her many friends and family members. Dick and Joan were intent on traveling in their retirement when Dick was taken ill and passed away on February 2, 1990. After Dick’s death, Joan came back to Storm Lake to live, until she became ill, after which she went to live with her son, David and his wife Tracey in Fort Collins.

Those left to cherish her memory include her four sons: David of Fort Collins, Jeff of Burnsville, Minnesota, Gregory and Steven of Nederland, Colorado; eight grandchildren; one brother: Donald D. Findley of Fairfield, Washington, two sisters: Marlys Drake of Ocean Springs, Mississippi and Shirley Jessen of Storm Lake; as well as other extended family and a host of friends.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and sisters Janice Rath in 1964 and Bonnie Wilson in 2003.
