Arthur R. Pender Arthur R. Pender, age 87, of Schaller, Iowa died Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa. Memorial Services will be Saturday, November 13, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Schaller with Reverend Carol Gailey officiating. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be on the same day as the memorial service, at the church, from 12:00 until service time. Art was born October 7, 1917 to Jess and Sallie (Bateman) Pender in Bedford, Indiana. He was baptized in the Methodist religion in Lawrence County, Indiana. Art grew up in Indiana and attended the Schaswick Township School. On January 7, 1940, Art was united in marriage to Marjorie J. Brisbois in South Dakota. They were blessed with three sons: Robert, Lloyd and Tom. Art was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather who enjoyed every moment he spent with his family. Art liked to spend his spare time playing golf and cards, doing wordbook puzzles, traveling and gardening. Those left to cherish Art’s memory include his wife of nearly 65 years, Marge, of Schaller; his sons: Robert and wife Karen Pender of Alta, Iowa, Lloyd and wife Lynn Pender of Saginaw, Michigan, and Tom and wife Sharon Pender of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren: Traci DeWitt of Bailey, Colorado, Toni and Lewis Castor of Davenport, Iowa; Jennifer and Paul Van Steenhuyse of Bettendorf, Iowa, Brian and Nancy Pender of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Dave Pender of Saginaw, Michigan, Kevin and Carol Pender of Saginaw, Michigan, Craig and Lorie Pender of Detroit, Michigan, Sallie and Rob Campbell of Alta, Iowa and Shane Pender of Kansas City, Missouri; step-grandchildren: Ron and Brian Underwood and Janelle, Emily and Jake Tucker; great-grandchildren: Samantha and Derek Pender, Tristin and Ashley Pender, Kyle and Alison Pender, Jadeyn Pender, Taylor Campbell and Curtis Castor; several step-great-grandchildren, as well as other extended family members and a host of friends. Art was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary; and four brothers: Kenneth, William, Merrill and Jess, Jr. |
