A.W. Fowler
A memorial services will be Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Storm Lake, with Reverend Tom Hinshaw officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at the church. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements. A.W. was born near Sweetwater, Oklahoma on February 10, 1921. His parents were Alfred Wair and Vulla (Callan) Fowler. He graduated from Meridian High School, SW State College, Oklahoma and SW Baptist Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, being stationed in France, England, Germany and Belgium. On October 2, 1947, A.W. married Mary Catherine Eakin of Petersburg, Tennessee in Weatherford, Oklahoma. He taught school for eight years before working at SW Portland Cement Co. and Bil-Mar Turkey Processing Company for 13 years each. He retired in 1983. A.W. was baptized in Edmond, Oklahoma in 1939. He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Storm Lake, serving as a deacon as well as on the Christian Education Board, the Mission Committee and as Sunday School Superintendent. He was in charge of Sunrise Chapel for many years. Cherishing his memory are his children: Betty Jeanne (Dennis) Fast of Early, Alfred Wair Fowler III of Storm Lake, Mary June (Jeff) Speichinger of Chavuma, Zambia and Joanne (Steve) Luetkeman of Storm Lake; grandchildren: Troy Fast of Sioux City, Tracy Fast of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Jennelle Speichinger of Augusta, Georgia, Jason Speichinger of Spokane, Washington and Joseph Speichinger of Chavuma, Zambia; brothers: Vancy, P.O., John, and Gene and his wife Leah; sisters: Faye, Flo and Ruby as well as many relatives and friends. Proceeding him in death were his parents; wife, Mary; his stepfather; son, Teddy; grandson, Justin Speichinger; nephew, David Fowler; brother “Hi” and sister Alma. |
