Arnold G. Else, Jr.

Arnold G. Else, Jr., age 65, of Galva, Iowa passed away Friday, December 24, 2004 near Galva after being involved in a one vehicle accident.

Funeral Services will be Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Galva with Reverend Paul Egger officiating. Burial will be in the Galva Township East Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be from 4-8:00 pm at St. John Lutheran Church in Galva.

Arnold Jr. was born May 28, 1939 at Battle Creek, Iowa to Arnold G. Sr. and Edith (Rasmussen) Else. In 1946, he moved to the family farm, northwest of Galva and attended Galva schools, graduating in 1957. Junior was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he was baptized on August 27, 1939 and later confirmed.

On January 5, 1963, he was married to Peggy Allen at Pomeroy, Iowa in the Wesley Methodist Church. They were blessed with a daughter and three sons.

Junior was a farmer at heart, avid fisherman and wildlife conservationist. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, cooking and smoking meats for family and friends. He was a 4-H leader for 25 years, past fair board member, Sunday School superintendent and teacher, church trustee and active in the county and state Cattleman’s Association. He was also an NK seed dealer for 39 years.

He was a great husband, dad, grandpa and a friend to all, young and old. There was never a child that didn’t love and adore him.

Junior is survived by his wife, Peggy of Galva; children, Grant and Shelly Else of Holstein, Dawn and Johnny Miranda of Missouri City, Texas, Stuart and Jill Else of Holstein, and Justin Else of Ames, Iowa; and eleven grandchildren: Michaela, Montana, Madeline, Alyson, Nicholas, Emily, William, Evan, Lance, Lucas and Savannah.

Also surviving are two brothers: John Else and Harlan and Jane Else of Holstein; two sisters: Judy and Gaylen Winterhof of Galva and Ardie and Don Camarigg of Surprise, Arizona; Peggy’s parents, Orin and Merna Hanson of Pomeroy; five brothers-in-law: David and Rosie Allen, Paul and Kathy Allen all of Pomeroy, Dennis and Jan Allen, Bruce and Deb Allen all of Houston, Texas, and Steve Allen of Denison; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith (1980) and Arnold Sr. (1993); father-in-law William Allen (1967); brother, William Else (1963); nephew, Randy Else (1984) and niece Jodie Schulke (2004).
