Yvonne Meyer

Yvonne Meyer, age 67, of Storm Lake died Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral mass for Mrs. Meyer will be Saturday, September 20, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake, with Reverend Bruce Lawler officiating.

Friends may call at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake on Friday, September 19, 2003 after 3:00 p.m., where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be a Legion of Mary Service at 3:30 p.m. and a parish scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Yvonne Shannon was born on December 18, 1935 at Storm Lake, Iowa to Ross and Mildred (Sliefert) Shannon. A lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church in Storm Lake, she was baptized, confirmed and married there. She spent her childhood years on a farm near Storm Lake with her parents. She attended country school and graduated from Storm Lake High School with the Class of 1954.

On June 23, 1973, Yvonne married Don Meyer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. She was a loving wife and devoted mother who cherished the time she spent with her family. Yvonne worked for a number of years at the Storm Lake Municipal Golf Course, retiring in 2002.

Yvonne liked to play golf, enjoyed crafting, collected cat memorabilia and was an ardent Iowa Hawkeyes basketball fan.

She was loved by her family and friends and will be missed.

Yvonne is survived by her husband, Don, son J. Kerry Ryan of Las Vegas; daughters Tami Dean of Alta and Tina and husband Mike Roberts of Barnum; grandchildren: Tanner and Walker Roberts and Shannon and Adam Dean; great-granchild Treyvon Bailey of Alta; and her sisters Opal Peterson of Webster City, LaVern and husband Darrell Mommer of Des Moines, Viola McMahon of Perry and Doris Gustafson of Arnolds Park.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Michael Ryan, and a brother, Ross Shannon.
