Ruth Witte

Ruth Anna Witte, age 83, of Schaller died Friday, November 7, 2003 at the Willow Dale Willness village in Battle Creek, Iowa.

Funeral services for Ruth Witte will be held on Monday, November 10, 2003 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller, with Reverend John Schauer officiating. Burial will be in the Schaller Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 9, 2003 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Ruth Wendel was born on September 27, 1920 to Albert and Matilda (Fett) Wendel, on a farm north of Schaller. She attended school in Schaller and graduated from Schaller High School.

Ruth worked as a bookkeeper at the Schaller Telephone Company until she married Lee Witte on June 4, 1951. To this union, two children were born.

She was an active lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Schaller where she was involved in Ladies Aid. She also belonged to several clubs including Arts & Crafts and C-Con Club.

Ruth is survived by a son, Lyle Witte and wife Vicki of Sutherland; daughter Valerie Ladwig and husband Rick of Ida Grove; two granddaughters Stephanie and Melonie; brother Floyd Wendel and wife Hilda of Schaller; sister Arletta Stille and husband Kenny of Schaller; and many nieces and nephews.

Other survivors include five brothers-in-law: Edward Witte of Schaller, Burdette Witte and wife Viola of Ida Grove, Don Witte and wife Wilma of Bentonville, Arkansas, Emmit Witte and wife Laura of Schaller, and George Witte and wife Janice of Schaller; and four sisters-in-law: Esther Patterson of Britton, South Dakota, Irene Carstensen of Ida Grove, Leona Witte of Wahoo, Nebraska and Joyce Witte of Sac City.

Preceding Ruth in death are her husband Lee, granddaughter Brandi and sister Bernetta Wogahn.
