Lena Luft

Lena Ida Elsie Luft, age 100, formerly of Schaller, died March 1, 2003 at the Odebolt Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral services for Lena Luft, age 100, of Schaller will be Tuesday, March 4th at 2:00 p.m. at the Schaller United Methodist Church with the Reverend Carol Gailey officiating. Burial will be in the Eureka Township Cemetery in Schaller.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller with the family present to greet friends from 6-8 p.m.

Lena Ida Elsie Lenz was born September 23, 1902 in Wall Lake, Iowa, the daughter of Gottlob and Wilhelmina (Rhode) Lenz. She lived with her parents in Holstein and attended the Holstein School.

On December 6, 1929 Lena was united in marriage to Louis Luft. To this union, two sons were born, Verdeen and Calvin.

Lena was a member of the United Methodist Church in Schaller.

She was a homemaker, who loved to bake pies and enjoyed canning.

Survivors include her two sons: Calvin Luft of Schaller, and Verdeen Luft and wife Darlene of Schaller; grandchildren: Dean Luft, Jolene Turnquist, David Luft, Keith Luft, Carol Jones, and Gayelynn Starf; great-grandchildren: Rachel, Brandon, and Wes Turnquist, Angie Luft, and Collin and Benjamin Jones; great-great grandchildren: Tiffany and Mikayla Hanson; honorary grandchildren: Laurene Mills and Paula Bubke; honorary great-grandchildren: Andy Mills, Michael Mills, Heather Gray, Neil Bubke, and Michelle Bubke; and other extended family members and friends.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis in 1976; and siblings: Otto, William, Charles, Minnie, Martha, Oscar, Robert, John, Alice, Clarence, Marvin and an infant brother.
