Lois Jensen
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 8, 2003 at St. John Lutheran Church in Galva, Iowa with Reverend Paul Egger officiating. Burial will be in the Galva Township West Cemetery. The funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Galva where the family will be present to greet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Lois Elizabeth Jensen was born November 9, 1919 the daughter of Herman and Emma (Kropf) Schelldorf. She lived with her parents in rural Kiron, Iowa where she attended country school. Lois was united in marriage to Russell Jensen on November 24, 1936. To this union four children were born: Jerry, Judy, Joanne, and Jon. They made their home on what is now considered the home place north of Galva. Here they lived for 22 years. Lois was an active farmwife raising her children and assisting with many of the farm duties. In 1973, Lois and Russell moved from the family farm to the Alta Golf course where they built their retirement home. They truly enjoyed their retirement for 10 years until Russell’s passing in 1983. Lois was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church in Galva, Iowa. For many years, she was involved in Ladies Aid. Over the years, Lois enjoyed her flowers and cooking, attending her grandchildren’s activities, knitting, and playing cards. She was also an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bulls, and Tiger Woods. Some of her most cherished times involved traveling and spending time with family. She and Russell divided their time between traveling to Lake Okoboji and Mercedes, Texas where they often entertained friends and family. Lois was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Lois is survived by her two sons: Jerry Jensen and wife Jean of Aurelia and Jon Jensen and wife Roxanne of Galva; two daughters: Judy Murray and husband Darrell of Racine, Wisconsin and Joanne Jensen of Flower Mound, Texas; one sister, LaJune Fineran of Denison; grandchildren: Jeff Murray and wife Tracy of Racine, Wisconsin, Teresa Larson and husband Brian of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jay Jensen and wife Maggie of Sioux City, Jed Jensen and wife Amy of Spirit Lake, Don Brandt and wife Sue of Plainfield, Illinois, Kris Vaughn and husband Trent of Flower Mound, Texas, Nathan Jensen and wife Nancy of Storm Lake, Nick Jensen of Iowa City, and Olivia Jensen of Galva; eleven great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends. Preceding Lois in death are her parents, her husband Russell, two sisters, one brother, and an infant grandson. |
